THE Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, and the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, have extended Deepavali greetings to all Hindus in Malaysia, particularly those in the state.

In a post on the Selangor Royal Office Facebook page today, His Royal Highness expressed hope that the celebration would continue to serve as a platform to strengthen unity and harmony among a society comprising diverse races and religions.

“The spirit of mutual respect, visiting one another, and sharing in the joy should continue to be nurtured to foster closer bonds of brotherhood among the people.

“Drawing lessons from current developments, His Royal Highness believes that strong mutual understanding and tolerance are essential to ward off the influence of external elements, particularly those operating through social media that seek to sow hatred, incite division, and threaten the nation’s peace,” he stated.

Accordingly, His Royal Highness hopes that the Deepavali celebration will bring happiness and well-being, while further strengthening the resolve of all citizens to work together in preserving the nation’s harmony. - November 7, 2026
