THE government has assured that Malaysia is sufficiently prepared to face potential cyberattacks that could disrupt the nation’s communication networks.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, stated that Malaysia currently holds enough rice stocks to meet needs for at least six months, while fish supplies are sufficient to last up to eight months.
He urged the public not to panic, emphasising that the government remains prepared for any eventuality.
“God willing, there is no need to panic, as we have sufficient rice stocks for at least six months. Currently, fish supplies are enough for eight months, and other food supplies are also available.
“However, should a cyberattack occur that results in a loss of communication, we are prepared to physically transport food supplies directly from the farms,” he said.
Mohamad noted that preparatory measures must be implemented in advance, even if such threats do not ultimately materialise.
“If it does not happen, Alhamdulillah. Nevertheless, preparations must be made, and we need to begin educating the public to be ready for potential cyber warfare in the future,” he said. – November 7, 2026
