PROCEEDINGS to record proposed additional evidence from a key prosecution witness in Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor’s RM1.25 billion Sarawak solar hybrid project corruption case have been put on hold pending the prosecution’s appeal at the Federal Court.
A three-member Court of Appeal panel led by Justice Datuk Azhahari Kamal Ramli today allowed the prosecution’s application to suspend the execution of an earlier order for the evidence to be recorded.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Asnawi Abu Hanipah told the court that the defence had no objection to the application.
Rosmah’s lawyer, Datuk Amer Hamzah Arshad, confirmed that the defence did not object after the prosecution gave an undertaking to expedite the appeal at the Federal Court.
The proposed evidence involves the 16th prosecution witness, businessman Rayyan Radzwill Abdullah, who has alleged that he was pressured by the prosecution during the trial.
Rosmah, 74, is seeking to introduce a police report and statutory declaration by Rayyan Radzwill in support of her application for the proposed additional evidence to be considered.
The Court of Appeal fixed Oct 7 for case management via e-Review, while the appeal hearing scheduled for October was vacated.
Rosmah was convicted by the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Sept 1, 2022, of three charges of soliciting RM187.5 million in bribes and receiving RM6.5 million in return for helping secure approval for the RM1.25 billion solar hybrid project involving 369 rural schools in Sarawak.
She was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment on each charge, to run concurrently, and fined RM970 million, or an additional 10 years’ imprisonment in default.
The execution of the sentence was stayed pending her appeal. - September 17, 2026
