THE government has agreed to provide a cost-of-living allowance of RM2,500 per person, benefiting 90,000 Form Six students nationwide.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that this provision aims to ensure the welfare of pre-university students continues to be safeguarded.

“As I previously announced, the government has agreed to provide a cost-of-living allowance of RM2,500 to Form Six students,” he said while tabling the 2027 Budget in the Dewan Rakyat today.

He noted that the new allowance rate matches that received by matriculation students, thereby strengthening and ensuring equity in financial assistance for students at the post-Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level. – October 9, 2026
