SANDAKAN – The public are becoming lax in their adherence to the health standard operating procedures despite the current movement control order in Sabah.
Sandakan district police chief ACP Mohd Azhar Hamin said the police here have observed that more people are ignoring the physical distancing rule in public places, and not wearing their face masks properly.
“I must remind the public members here that a face mask is supposed to be on your face, not chin. A total of 46 people have been fined since the second MCO was called on January 13.
“Most of them were caught pulling down their face masks in public places.”
Azhar said if the people continue to ignore the SOP, there is a high chance that the Covid-19 cases in Sandakan will remain high, and MCO will be again extended.
He said this at a roadblock in Mile 16 here after receiving a donation from nominated assemblyman Suhaimi Nasir.
