KUALA LUMPUR – The Communications and Multimedia Ministry has denied the involvement of the Community Communications Department (J-Kom) in the publication of a poster with the department’s name that was shared by the Tangga Putra Perdana Twitter account yesterday.
The ministry, in a statement today, said J-Kom does not have a social media account, and that it will take effect only on February 1.
The Tangga Putra Perdana account tweeted a poster that carried a name similar to J-Kom, with a note saying “published by the Community Communications Department (J-Kom)”, and a coat of arms bearing the words “Communications and Multimedia Ministry”.
The ministry said the unauthorised use of the coat of arms is unethical, irresponsible, and may cause confusion among the public.
“As such, the public is advised to always refer to the ministry’s website or social media accounts for verified information regarding J-Kom.”
J-Kom is a rebranding of the Special Affairs Department under the ministry, and aimed at boosting two-way communication between the government and the people, and conveying accurate information to the public. – Bernama, January 27, 2021
