THE Community Communications Department (J-KOM) post left vacant after Datuk Mohammad Agus Yusoff’s abrupt resignation as its director-general will be filled as soon as possible.

Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said he had spoken to the department’s deputy director-general Datuk Ismail Yusop and was informed on receiving Agus’ resignation letter.

“So now this individual no longer has any connection with the government or J-KOM.

“I have not spoken specifically to the prime minister on this matter.

“But I believe, God-willing, steps have been taken to fill in the position as soon as possible,” he said.

Fahmi said this to reporters in San Francisco, where he is accompanying Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit this week.

Agus yesterday confirmed submitting his resignation letter, claiming he had received offers from local and international organisations needing his services.

He denied that it was due to pressure over his alleged poor performance.

J-KOM is a department under the Prime Minister’s Office. It was previously called the Special Affairs Department. – The Vibes, November 16, 2023
