KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysians have again taken to social media to lambast Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa after he posted a photo of a walkabout with two other people.
The photo of Annuar, KL City Hall Director-General Datuk Nordin Razak and former Kelantan football association treasurer Datuk Nik Aminaldin Nik Jaafar on Twitter drew criticism as netizens pointed out that they were in breach of the movement control order (MCO) regulations.
Annuar later addressed the issue on Twitter, saying that Nordin, Aminaldin and himself were brisk walking separately until they bumped into each other.
He said after the photo was taken, they went about their exercise separately, adding: “SOP COMPLIED”.
Annuar also retweeted an article published by Malaysiakini on the issue, which stated that only jogging and cycling activities are allowed during the MCO, with the caption: “Nordin 78 years old, Nik 66 years old... senior citizen did brisk walking instead of jogging... of course, they didn't jog... they can’t... can they?"

However, netizens did not care much for his explanation.
“The problem with you, Annuar, is your attitude. Arrogant! You made a mistake, just admit it. You are a minister who will always be scrutinised. When you do something, use your brains. If this is the example you are setting, you won't be a leader for long," @zack_is_great said.
Another netizen pointed out to the Ketereh MP that brisk walking is fine, but not in groups of three.
“They can brisk walk just NOT in groups of 3. Get it?” @footprintsmgmt tweeted.
Meanwhile, former human resources minister M. Kula Segaran said Annuar while did practise social distancing, he wasn't wearing a mask, highlighting also that no action was taken against the minister.
