LAHAD DATU – A Facebook post of popular Muslim preacher Ebit Lew handing over donations to a church has gone viral, getting 19,000 “shares” within just five hours.

In his post, Ebit said he went to the St Dominic Catholic church in Lahad Datu and met its priest, Father Simon, to donate 100 food packs, 10 wheelchairs, and masks.

“We spoke about the importance of sharing love and kindness. Even though we are of different religions, we are a family.”

Later, he told The Vibes that the church has been entrusted with distributing the donated items to the needy.

Ebit’s post came with photos of him in the church.

Facebook users praised him for helping those in need regardless of religion, and said his actions showed the true beauty of Islam.

Ebit, a known philanthropist, started a 10-day mission on Tuesday to distribute donations in Sabah’s Tawau, Lahad Datu, Kunak and Semporna.

A total of 1,000 food packs, 100 wheelchairs, 75,000 masks and 200 tablets will be handed out.
