KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia recorded 3,499 fresh Covid-19 infections today.
However, the Health Ministry reported a higher number of recoveries at 3,515.
This brings the national Covid-19 tally to 261,805 while 51,558 cases remain active.
The ministry also recorded five deaths from the virus today, bringing the nation’s death toll from the pandemic to 958.
Two of the deceased were from Selangor, while the rest were from Sabah, Johor and Terengganu respectively.
All the deceased patients were Malaysians. One of them was a 20-year-old male with a history of lymphoma.
Selangor continues to record the highest number of daily cases with 1,346 today, followed by Johor (802 cases) and Kuala Lumpur (511).
Sarawak had 152 new infections, Penang (138), Perak (121), Kedah (111), Sabah (101), Negri Sembilan (58), Melaka (50), Terengganu (46), Kelantan (44), Pahang (13), Putrajaya (3), Labuan (2), and Perlis (2).
As for clusters, 483 remain active at present, including 10 new ones identified today.
Johor logged three new clusters, all involving worksites, while Selangor and Kuala Lumpur have two each. Negri Sembilan and Terengganu have one new cluster each, also involving worksites.
An additional cluster was identified in Kuala Lumpur, but it involves high risk individuals. – The Vibes, February 13, 2021
