KOTA KINABALU – The Sabah government has formed a special committee to coordinate, oversee, and expedite all federal projects in the state, in order to ensure efficiency in their implementation as well as to guarantee timely completion.

This was announced by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor during the State Development Action Council meeting here today.

“The council has agreed to form the special committee as it would be able to deal with the issue of late completion of federal projects in Sabah,” he said. “Projects that are ailing, delayed, abandoned, or late past the completion date are a loss for the people of Sabah.

“The special committee will be able to refine the completion process of such projects, as well as to quickly identify issues that arise and solve them in order for the projects to be completed and achieve their intended purpose.”

Also present were Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, Deputy Chief Minister II Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan, and Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam.

Other officials who attended the meeting State Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong, State Federal Secretary Datuk Samsuni Mohd Nor, State Development Director Noor Alam Khan A. Wahid Khan, State Federal Finance Officer Alan Abdul Rahim, several cabinet ministers, and senior officers from both federal and state levels.

Hajiji, who is also Sabah finance minister, said he wants all agencies and departments to take quick action to complete all the late projects – such as schools, hospitals, and utilities (electricity and water supply) – in the rural areas.

He also instructed the officers to expedite all late projects, as well as requesting the committee to ensure that all allocations meant for Sabah be properly spent according to their purpose. – The Vibes, February 16, 2021.
