KOTA KINABALU – The number of new Covid-19 positive cases in Sabah spiked again into three digits with 132 cases, from two digits yesterday.
Sabah government Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said there were 39 new Covid-19 cases from the Jalan Tiga cluster here.
He said Sabah also today recorded two new Covid-19 clusters with the first cluster being the Simpang Tiga cluster involving the Kota Marudu, Kota Belud, and Pitas districts, bringing the total number of cases to 25.
The index case for this cluster involves employees of a microcredit organisation based in Matunggong, and living in nearby Kota Belud.
The second cluster, Jalan Apas Tawau in Kalabakan and Tawau, recorded a total of 22 positive cases, where the index case was detected from a seafood company that underwent screening on February 2.
The state recorded one death today in Keningau.
Masidi said that from the 132 new cases today, Kota Kinabalu remained the highest with 47 cases, followed by Keningau (20), Sandakan (12), Papar (11), Tawau (eight), Kota Belud (eight), Kalabakan (seven), Putatan (seven), Lahad Datu (four), Penampang (two), and one case each in Tuaran, Kota Marudu, Semporna, Beluran, Sipitang, and Beaufort. – The Vibes, February 16, 2021
