MIRI – Two men in their 40s are among four new Covid-19 deaths confirmed in Sarawak today as toll in the state hits 73.

Miri Hospital today confirmed that a 48-year-old male patient died of the virus while Bintulu Hospital said a 45-year-old succumbed to the disease.

Sibu Hospital, meanwhile, logged two deaths – a 58-year-old man and a 77-year-old woman.

The state Disaster Management Committee secretariat said the Covid-19 death rate and new infections continue to soar, especially in Sibu district.

Currently, there are 24 active Covid-19 clusters state-wide and 134 new infections today.

Sibu district recorded 53 new cases, followed by Bintulu (19), Kuching (15), Kapit (12), Samarahan (10), Song (8), Miri (4), and other districts with one or two infections.

The Sibu Hospital is treating 1,138 Covid-19 patients, followed Miri Hospital with 297, Kapit Hospital (206), Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching (191), Bintulu Hospital (178), Sarikei Hospital (49), Sri Aman (18), and one each in the Limbang and Lawas hospitals. – The Vibes February 20, 2021
