S’wak sees 2 more Covid-19 deaths, both elderly folk

MIRI – Sarawak today saw two more Covid-19 fatalities, taking the death toll to 83.

The state Disaster Management Committee secretariat in its daily coronavirus update said the victims were a 78-year-old woman in Bintulu Hospital and an 80-year-old man in Sibu Hospital.

It said the infection rate in the state is still high as there are 171 new cases and 27 active clusters.

Sibu recorded the highest number of fresh infections at 33, followed by Miri (31), Bintulu (29), Betong (20), Kapit (20) and Kuching (15), while other districts have fewer than 10.

Sibu Hospital is treating 1,084 Covid-19 patients today, while Miri Hospital has 160; Kapit Hospital, 192; Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching, 374; Bintulu Hospital, 291; Sarikei Hospital, 188; Betong Hospital, 40; and Sri Aman Hospital, 35. – The Vibes, February 28, 2021
