IPOH – Embattled Kampar MP Thomas Su Keong Siong has apologised for the ruckus that ensued following his criticism at the Perak DAP election last Sunday.

In a statement issued today, he wanted an opportunity to explain the events that led to his vocal objections.

“At about 12.30pm, when I was at the convention and while the meeting was already in progress, I came to know that the registration of delegates was still ongoing.

“I then made enquiries and discovered that the attendance list was used by a certain group of people and individuals to call and bring in more delegates even when the meeting was already in progress. I felt that was improper.

“At that juncture, I objected and requested that it be stopped and be allowed access to the list of registered delegates.

“However, my objections were not heeded, which I felt was against the fundamental beliefs of DAP, which has prided itself in fighting for transparency, accountability and democracy.”

In hindsight, Su said he could have raised his concerns in an appropriate manner and forum.

“I recognised that my actions, however well-meant or in line with what I believe to be the spirit of what DAP stands for, were wrong and did not reflect the way DAP would fight its struggles.

“I recognise that my actions have tarnished my party’s reputation and my own image, and I hereby do unreservedly express my regret and apologies.”

However, Su urged the central executive committee to investigate his claims and take the necessary action.

“I believe my hope is in line with what DAP has been striving for – fair and transparent elections.” – The Vibes, March 17, 2021
