MIRI – The Sibu divisional Disaster Management Committee has postponed Phase 2 of the Covid-19 vaccination programme that was scheduled to start today.
The exercise, which was supposed to inoculate about 900 people at the Sibu Indoor Stadium, was cancelled.
The committee said the shots were supposed to arrive from Kuala Lumpur, but did not come as planned.
“There are no vaccines available now as the supply has not arrived in Sibu.
“Those scheduled to receive their shots starting today have been informed of the postponement.
“They will be informed when the vaccine is available for them,” said a public notice.
Sibu was supposed to be the first district to kick-start Phase 2 of the vaccination drive.
It is one of the 20 districts in Sarawak listed as Covid-19 danger districts, where infections are raging.
Out of the 140 deaths and about 23,000 positive infections to date in Sarawak, at least half of these were in Sibu alone. – The Vibes, April 20, 2021
