GEORGE TOWN – Police arrested a suspect for assaulting a 40-year-old Foodpanda delivery man, who suffered nine stitches on the head.

Timur Laut district police chief ACP Soffian Santong said the suspect was picked up at his apartment in Bayan Lepas by the Criminal Investigation Department team about 11.15pm yesterday, where they also recovered the weapon used in the attack.

“The suspect had allegedly attacked the Foodpanda delivery man when he went to deliver the food to the customer, who is the suspect’s wife,” he said. “He used a metal object to hit the victim on his head.

“Initial investigations revealed that the bone of contention behind the incident was about food delivery, and we are further investigating to establish the cause of the incident.”

A video clip of the incident, which happened at 4.10pm, became viral on social media yesterday.

Soffian said the case was being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt. – The Vibes, April 22, 2021
