KUALA LUMPUR – The National Security Council (NSC) has now decided to allow certain outdoor recreational activities, reversing its earlier decision which implemented a blanket ban on all sports and physical activities.
In a Facebook post uploaded roughly an hour ago, the Youth and Sports Ministry announced that the NSC has decided to review its decision concerning the standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to the sports sector for areas under the movement control order (MCO).
“Sporting and recreational activities done in open spaces without physical touching like jogging, cycling, and exercise with physical distancing can be done in residential areas beginning tomorrow,” the Facebook post read.
The ministry also said that the loosening of other sporting activities is currently being considered at the next NSC meeting.
Initially, the NSC released two directives related to sports, one of which concerned SOPs for areas subjected under the MCO in Selangor, which stated that sporting activities not involving touch or indoor training would be allowed. – The Vibes, May 7, 2021
