THE suspect who attacked sports journalist Haresh Deol in Bangsar on Tuesday may have mistakenly targeted him.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said investigations so far indicate that the motive for the incident stemmed from personal issues.

“The motive is seen to be related to harassment of his (suspect’s) wife, but it is more related to personal matters. But it looks like the possibility of the wrong target. But we will determine later.

“For now, the suspect has been remanded and the investigation is still ongoing. God willing, we will take the investigation papers to the Attorney General’s Chambers for further instructions on whether he is to be charged or not,” he said, today.

Earlier, Haresh claimed to have been attacked by two unknown men while in Bangsar.

Brickfields District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hoo Chang Hook, had said that the suspect was remanded for three days to assist in the investigation under Section 323 and Section 506 of the Penal Code.
