KUALA TERENGGANU – The Terengganu government has expanded free water supply for the first 20 cubic metres to 1.33 million people in the state throughout this month.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the initiative is aimed at easing residents’ financial burden for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The move will involve expenditure amounting to almost RM570,000 for a period of one month, from May 1 to 31,” he said in a Facebook post today.

“This initiative is hoped to alleviate the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and is a sign of the government’s concern for the people, especially with the upcoming Aidilfitri celebration.”

He said the state administration provides free water for the first 20 cubic metres to e-Kasih recipients, as well as residents in the Hardcore Poor Housing programme. – Bernama, May 9, 2021
