16 foreign students nabbed in drug-fuelled party raid

KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 24 foreigners have been arrested for drug possession by police during a raid at a hotel here today.

Twelve of them tested positive for drugs, and authorities also seized 7.69g of marijuana.

Initial investigation revealed that 16 of the 24 individuals are college students, while the rest are either tourists or working in Malaysia.

All were arrested for drug-related charges and immigration violations, as well as flouting movement control order standard operating procedures.

Among the 24 detainees, 19 men were Nigerian and 5 women were from Kenya, Sierra Leone, Thailand and Tanzania.

The group had booked hotel rooms for entertainment purposes while they were under the influence of drugs.

The authorities have urged members of the public with information regarding the case to come forward.
