KOTA KINABALU – The man embroiled in the two million Sinovac vaccine donation to Penang has denied he is linked to Malaysian business magnate Tan Sri Robert Kuok.

In a response to a viral message, Yong Chee Kong said there is no truth to the claim that he was linked to Kuok, who is based in Hong Kong.

Yong also rubbished the reason his company wanted to donate vaccines instead of monies following claims the government had marked up the price of the vaccines.

“This is not the truth,” he said in a text message.

A text message linking Yong to Kuok had gone viral, naming Kuok as the man behind the vaccine donation, and that Yong was his man on the ground.

After his company donation offer had been labelled bogus by National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaludin, Yong said his company’s offer had been politicised. – The Vibes, May 25, 2021
