KUALA LUMPUR – Singer Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin and her husband Datuk Khalid Mohamad Jiwa have each been slapped with a RM10,000 compound for violating Covid-19 standard operating procedures during their child’s tahnik ceremony here.
Selangor police chief Arjunaidi Mohamed said Religious Affairs Minister Datuk Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri, and preachers Azhar Idrus, Don Daniyal and Iqbal Zain were each compounded RM2,000.
Celebrities Norman Hakim and Abby Abadi, too, were fined, said cops.
They were found to have violated the SOPs during the tahnik ceremony for Siti Nurhaliza’s second child at the family’s residence in Bukit Antarabangsa.
Police previously said photos carried with a news article showed several popular personalities and a preacher in attendance.
Ampang Jaya district police chief Mohamad Farouk Eshak had said the attendees did not obtain police approval for interstate travel, and that the event was held without compliance with the SOPs.
He added that a report was lodged and an investigation launched under Rule 19 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2021.
Earlier, Siti Nurhaliza and Khalid issued a statement denying they violated the SOPs during the tahnik, an Islamic ceremony to welcome a newborn.
