KUALA LUMPUR – Prasarana Malaysia Bhd has yet to identify 83 of the 213 individuals involved in the light rail transit crash here on Monday.
In a statement today, the group urged these passengers to come forward immediately, to ensure they are rendered assistance.
“Their information is important for Prasarana to coordinate the assistance that has been announced.”

In a separate Facebook post, the company urged victims who lost their belongings in the accident to claim their items.
The public transport operator said of the 130 passengers who have been identified, 12 are foreigners – five from Bangladesh, Indonesia (3), the Philippines (2), Iran (1) and the Middle East (1) – and that the respective embassies have been contacted.
The amount in “goodwill payment” to be given to all victims has yet to be finalised, as it will be determined only after Prasarana receives full details on the passengers involved, it said.
Former Prasarana non-executive chairman Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has said victims will be given a RM1,000 compensation – an amount widely panned as being insufficient.
The incident about 8.30pm on Monday saw two LRT trains – one carrying passengers and the other, only a driver – colliding in the tunnel near the KLCC station.
Prasarana said 67 individuals have received treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital, with the remaining passengers sustaining minor to no injuries.
To date, it said, 62 people have been discharged.
Of the five still in hospital, two are warded in the intensive care unit, while three have been transferred to normal wards and will be released in two to seven days.
“I would like to apologise to all Malaysians and passengers for the unwanted accident,” said Prasarana acting president and group CEO Datin Norlia Noah.
“We regret the incident, which has damaged the good track record of the Kelana Jaya LRT Line that has been operating for 23 years. I would also like to apologise for our shortcomings in handling the incident.”
