MIRI – Sarawak recorded four Covid-19 deaths and 726 new infections today as the state begins its first day under the full movement control order.

There were two fatalities in the Kapit Hospital involving two women aged 59 and 72, while the other two deaths were at Bintulu Hospital involving two men aged 57 and 63.

“With these latest fatalities, the Covid-19 death toll in Sarawak has reached 280,” said the state Disaster Management Committee when extending condolences to the families of the deceased.

Kuching district recorded the highest number of cases at 159.

Miri saw 66 new cases, Kapit (73), Sibu (72), Subis (60), Bintulu (49), Samarahan (43), Pakan (28), Meradong (27) and numerous other districts had less than 20 new cases each.

The secretariat said another new outbreak was found in the Meradong district involving a longhouse.

The Sungai Sian Cluster saw 22 people in the longhouse testing positive while  screening was being done in the village.
