KUANTAN – The number of vaccination registration increased by almost 100,000 in the state this week due to an initiative undertaken by local community leaders and volunteers.
Pahang Secretary Datuk Seri Sallehuddin Ishak said all parties have been cooperating by going to the ground for the inoculation exercise campaign, including assisting residents to manually register for the vaccine.
“Many of the interior areas have no phone coverage; hence, the residents are unable to register for vaccination through the MySejahtera app.
“However, the initiative undertaken by the district offices, community leaders, people’s representatives and volunteers could help increase the number of vaccination registrants in Pahang.”
The bigger number of registrants could also help the state obtain more vaccines, he added.
The Pahang government had previously taken the initiative of imposing the condition that any customer who wanted to use counter or government office services in the state should register for vaccination through MySejahtera or the Pahang Covid-19 Immunisation System.
Pahang has targeted 1.2 million individuals to register for the vaccination, and 530,770 have done so up to June 4, compared with 434,184 until May 27. – Bernama, June 6, 2021
