MIRI – Sarawak has detected two new Covid-19 clusters involving social gatherings, with 42 individuals infected so far.

The Kg Hilir Lingga cluster in Sri Aman registered 23 cases following Hari Raya Aidilfitri gatherings, while the Kg Sinar Budi cluster in Kuching has 19 cases.

Health units are on site for contact tracing and screening.

The Sarikei Health Department has issued a RM4,000 fine each to the chiefs of two longhouses – Rumah Lingga and Rumah Thomas – for violating movement control order standard operating procedures while performing Gawai Dayak rituals in their settlements.

Sarawak recorded three fresh fatalities today, bringing the death toll to 330.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee said the victims involved two men, aged 66 and 79, in Kapit Hospital, and a 66-year-old woman in Sibu Hospital.

The state recorded 419 fresh infections today, with Kuching logging 124 cases, Bintulu (89), Sri Aman (28), Sibu (27), Lubok Antu (26), Subis (16) and Miri (15), while other districts have fewer than 15 each. – The Vibes, June 9, 2021
