MIRI – Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Abang Johari Openg is scheduled to have an online audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at 11am today.
Johari will attend the meet together with the leaders of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) components.
He is chairman of the ruling state coalition, which comprises Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP), as well as PBB president.
The meeting will also see the participation of SUPP president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, PRS president Tan Sri James Masing and PDP president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing. They will be in Johari’s office in Kuching.
The leaders are expected to brief the king on the latest Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, and give their views on the state of emergency and ongoing movement control order.
Last week, the Agong granted audiences to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, opposition chief Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and leaders of major political parties, such as Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, Lim Guan Eng and Mohamad Sabu.
Anwar asked the king not to extend the emergency beyond August 1 as it has been very hard on the people, particularly the poor, while Dr Mahathir mooted the setting up of the National Operations Council.
