KUALA LUMPUR – The Yang di-Pertuan Agong will raise the issues brought up to him by political leaders recently at a special Conference of Rulers meeting slated for 2.30pm tomorrow.
In a statement today, Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah will also table matters brought up to him by Special Independent Emergency Committee chairman Tun Arifin Zakaria.
“It must be clarified that the audiences granted to political party leaders were based on His Majesty’s concern and his own initiative in relation to the government’s efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic during the emergency.
“Following these audiences, the views given by the political party leaders will be brought up at the special Conference of Rulers meeting tomorrow, which will start at 2.30pm.
“Experts from government agencies are scheduled to give a briefing on matters involving health, security, politics and the economy at the meeting.”
The king has held individual meetings with top politicians since Wednesday, starting with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, followed by opposition leader and PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu.
On Thursday, he granted audiences to PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, MCA president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong, Pejuang chief and former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, and Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.
The following day, Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Tan Sri S. Vigneswaran of MIC and Parti Bersatu Sabah’s Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili were summoned to Istana Negara.
The king yesterday granted online audiences to the presidents of Gabungan Parti Sarawak components, and earlier today had a meeting with Arifin. – The Vibes, June 15, 2021
