KOTA KINABALU – The armed forces’ field hospital in Tawau is expected to be operational next week, with 100 beds prepared for non-coronavirus patients.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob told a daily online briefing today that the facility will help lighten the load on Tawau Hospital, which is focused on treating Covid-19 cases.

The air force transported medical equipment to the field hospital this morning, he said.

“The plane also transported medical equipment from the Health Ministry and Mercy Malaysia... to Kota Kinabalu for use by other health centres in the state.”

He said Putrajaya is giving more attention to Sabah following a spike in the state’s coronavirus infections.

“Of course, all these efforts will bear results only if there is collaboration among all parties.

“Community leaders must play their part by becoming the eyes and ears of the government, and ensuring that people obey the SOPs.” – The Vibes, October 17, 2020
