KUALA LUMPUR – The Sultan of Selangor,  Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah today officially declared Subang Jaya a city.

The announcement was made to the press via the Selangor Mentri Besar’s office where the Sultan’s message was addressed to Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari’s statement.

“We, Sultan Sharifuddin Idris Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahudin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj, the Sultan of Selangor, hereby declare that starting from October 20, 2020 equivalent to Rabiul Awal 3, 1442 of the Hijrah Calendar, the Subang Jaya Municipal Council, is now a city and will be known as the Subang Jaya City Council.

“Therefore, the title of Subang Jaya Municipal Council President will now be Subang Jaya City Council Mayor.

“Meanwhile, members of the Subang Jaya Municipal Council will now be members of the Subang Jaya City Council,” said Sultan Sharafuddin.

In the same press statement, Amirudin added that based on the powers allocated under Subsection 10 (1) Local Government Act 1976, Noraini Roslan has been appointed as Subang Jaya mayor starting today.
