KUALA LUMPUR – A minister in the previous Pakatan Harapan government is expected to be charged by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission with criminal breach of trust tomorrow.
According to MACC sources, the suspect, an MP, will be charged at 9am at the Kuala Lumpur sessions court in relation to the alleged misappropriation of over RM1 million belonging to a political party.
It is learnt that the accused, who was the party’s Youth chief then, will be charged under Sections 403 and 405 of the Penal Code for CBT.
He is also set to be charged under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 at the Johor Baru sessions court on a different date.
Investigations into the case began in June last year after it was reported that the suspect lodged a police report following the loss of RM250,000 in his possession.
The lawmaker had said the monies, which went missing from his home in Petaling Jaya, belonged to him and his parents. – The Vibes, July 21, 2021
