GEORGE TOWN – A group of individuals lodged a report on alleged criminal breach of trust worth more than RM1 million and malpractice involving four state DAP leaders with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Penang today.
The group is led by S. Pergasan, who is a Prai branch DAP life member, and includes three others from non-governmental organisations – Karunai Oviam, S. Jegadish and S. Murugesan.
Pergasan, 42, said he was present to bring proof of the misappropriation of party and state funds by the accused DAP leaders, who are also alleged to have directly awarded tenders to their family members and close friends.
“This scandal has been going on since 2018, and today, we bring all the evidence to MACC so that this matter can be investigated immediately.
“We want DAP to be clean, and the people involved should leave the party if proven guilty,” he told reporters outside the MACC office here today.
However, he stopped short of revealing the names of the accused leaders.
Pergasan said this is the third report lodged – the earlier two were made at the MACC offices in Putrajaya in March last year and in Penang in July last year, respectively.
However, he added, the fact that the anti-graft body has yet to respond to any of the reports is very disappointing.
“When we follow up, they say they will investigate, and then they say the officer is on leave. Today, we called reporters so that this issue can be highlighted and immediately investigated.”
Asked if he is worried about being subjected to disciplinary action or expelled from the party, Pergasan said it is up to DAP to assess the matter.
