KOTA KINABALU – The woman who died after jumping from the eighth floor of Queen Elizabeth Hospital here on Wednesday night was not a coronavirus patient, said the Sabah health director.

Dr Christina Rundi said the 63-year-old was supposed to be discharged yesterday after her three rapid test PCR tests returned negative.

The woman had been in the isolation ward since October 13 for suspected Covid-19, she said.

Dr Rundi said the hospital’s mental health and psychosocial support team has contacted the woman’s family to provide support.

“Queen Elizabeth Hospital will investigate the details of the incident and make improvements accordingly.

“The victim’s body is still at the hospital’s Forensic Department for a post-mortem. The case is being investigated by police.”

Kota Kinabalu district police chief Habibi Majinji has said the case is classified as sudden death, and a probe is under way. – The Vibes, October 23, 2020
