KUALA LUMPUR – The government has decided to extend the conditional movement control order (CMCO) imposed on the whole of Sabah, said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in his daily update today.
The order, which took effect on October 13, had been scheduled to end on Monday.
“The Health Ministry has conducted targeted screening in the state, and is still detecting a rise in Covid-19 cases,” said Ismail Sabri.
“Thus, the government has decided to extend the CMCO in Sabah from October 27 until November 9.”
The decision comes after the Sabah government’s call for an extension in view of the spike in coronavirus infections in the state.
Ismail Sabri said Taman Semarak and the Balung flats in Tawau will be placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).
“The EMCO in these zones will take effect from October 26 until November 10, and will affect 4,266 houses and 21,470 residents.”
He said people are not allowed to leave the locked-down areas without police permission, while schools and houses of worship will be closed.
Grocery stores will be allowed to open from 6am to 6pm.
On Petaling Jaya’s Tropicana Golf Club and Country Resort, whose EMCO is due to end tomorrow, Ismail Sabri said 23 Covid-19 cases have been detected in screening conducted on residents and workers. – The Vibes, October 24, 2020
