BALIK PULAU – PKR strategic planning director Sim Tze Tzin has accused Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin of plagiarism, seeing how the latter has copied the Pakatan Harapan election manifesto recommendations in an attempt to buy opposition support.
Sim said he represented PKR when the coalition drafted the manifesto ahead of the general election in 2018.
“It was us who had pushed for the anti-hopping law and an even distribution of aid among parliamentarians. Now, Muhyiddin replicates it as if it is his own initiative. He cut, copied and pasted our recommendations.”
The Bayan Baru MP said PH is confident that it can regain the initiative to push through the recommendations designed to safeguard political stability and benefit the country.
Muhyiddin has lost his clout as leader and should resign to allow the constitutional monarchy and parliamentary democracy system to elect a better person for the job, he said.
Sim said based on his knowledge, 105 opposition MPs and 15 Umno MPs have remained steadfast in rejecting Muhyiddin’s offer, which comes off as insincere and too late.
“He should just resign honourably or become the first leader to go out dishonourably. He thinks he is better than the system,” he said, after visiting the Covid-19 vaccination centre at Setia SPICE Convention Centre here today.
On Muhyiddin’s move to stay on because no one else has the majority, Sim said there is a due process that must be observed by Parliament.
The order of succession can take place only after Muhyiddin resigns, following which the Yang di-Pertuan Agong will decide who should succeed the former based on a few factors, including who can command a majority in Parliament, he added.
He said Muhyiddin had on national television admitted that he has lost the majority in Parliament, and therefore, should step down.
Penang PKR vice-chairman Jason Ong said Muhyiddin is facing such a fate because he backstabbed PH.
Naturally, all MPs should support PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to become the next prime minister as it was his party that had the most seats, before some leaders betrayed PH, he added.
“We can only hope and pray that our MPs will do the right thing and allow Anwar his moment of truth.
“If we continue to desist him, we continue to deny justice and are just prolonging the political instability.”
Ong reminded the people that to fight the current health crisis, the country needs a leader who can unite everyone.
“Muhyiddin lied about majority support”
PKR information chief Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin said the prime minister’s statement yesterday is proof that the latter had lied about having majority support.
This is the first time in the history of Malaysia that a prime minister has to publicly “bribe” the opposition to stay in power.
“Muhyiddin has shown that he does not have majority support. Thus, will he oppose the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to defend his position as prime minister?”
The Hang Tuah Jaya MP said the leader’s move to stay in his seat despite losing majority support is not only against the federal constitution, but also challenges the authority of the king.
