MIRI – Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) hopes that the change in government will not derail the fight against Covid-19 in the country, said chairman Datuk Abang Johari Openg.
The chief minister also said the state government is concerned about the current political development.
“At a time when we are facing a tough Covid-19 battle, the power struggle has gotten worse in Putrajaya.
“The main agenda should be on how to fight the virus, but political parties are fighting each other.
“We in GPS are worried because we are linked to the federal government. What happens at one level affects the other (levels), as we belong to one country.
“We hope the political problems will not jeopardise the war against Covid-19,” he said at the launch of the “Fly the Jalur Gemilang” campaign in Kuching today.
The Perikatan Nasional government has been fair in terms of recognising Sarawak’s rights on petroleum resources by allocating more in taxes earned from petroleum, he added.
“We want to work closely with Putrajaya and hope the national development agenda can continue smoothly.” – The Vibes, August 16, 2021
