KUALA LUMPUR – As speculation continues to swirl on which lawmaker has majority support to become the next prime minister, independent MPs such as Larry Sng are hot-ticket items.
However, the Julau MP was careful with his words and refrained from making comments following the resignation of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
“I think Malaysians in general are just looking for a stable government. For me, I want to be part of that; I want to contribute to that,” he told The Vibes.
He said it is crucial for politicians to ensure a stable government and avoid more political uncertainty.
The former Sarawak PKR chief left the party in February and pledged support for the Muhyiddin-led Perikatan Nasional administration, citing the need to ensure the well-being of his constituents.
Today, Muhyiddin announced his and his cabinet’s resignation.
The former prime minister’s speculated stepping-down follows intense pressure from various quarters after he lost the confidence of the Dewan Rakyat, following the withdrawal of more than a dozen Umno MPs earlier this month. – The Vibes, August 16, 2021
