KUALA LUMPUR – All 18 PAS MPs will support Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as prime minister candidate.

PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said it was a unanimous decision by the party.

“We discussed it together and made the decision.

“The president (Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang) has also affirmed the decision. So we, hereby, give our support to Ismail Sabri,” Tuan Ibrahim told waiting press.

Also present at the press conference at Menara Dato Onn were Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad and PAS central committee member Datuk Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali.

Tuan Ibrahim, who is also Kubang Kerian MP, said PAS has prepared the statutory declarations (SDs) to be sent to Istana Negara by 4pm today.

He added that it is of utmost priority to solve the current problem at hand, which is to select a head of government.

“What is important now is to solve the problem first. We (Umno and PAS) discussed together and came to a consensual decision. We hope all the issues will be solved with this, God willing.”

Ahmad said party leaders who attended the meeting at the Umno HQ here today were Barisan Nasional adviser Datuk Seri Najib Razak, BN secretary-general Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir, Umno Youth chief Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.

Aside from the three PAS members at the joint press conference, Ahmad said PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan was also present at the meeting. – The Vibes, August 18, 2021
