KOTA KINABALU – Heavy rain and flooding is expected in several districts in Sabah and Labuan from tomorrow until Tuesday.

Malaysian Meteorological Department Director-General Muhammad Helmi Abdullah in a statement today informed that the districts of Sabah West Coast including Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort and Kudat are expected to be affected by bad weather.

Labuan is also included in the heavy rain forecast.

“West winds will potentially bring heavy rain and cause flooding in low areas in the affected districts,” he said.

Three people were killed and two went missing after a thunderstorm struck Kota Kinabalu and Penampang on Wednesday night, causing flash floods and landslides in many areas.

Sixty-eight people had to be put up at evacuation centres in Penampang and Putatan. Some 30 villages were affected by the disaster on the eve of Malaysia Day.
