KOTA KINABALU – Covid-19 recoveries surpassed new cases in Sabah today as 458 people were discharged after successful treatment.

A total of 352 new cases were reported in the state today, and two new clusters have been identified, said the Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

Eleven cases were recorded in the two new clusters – seven cases involving the Sakti cluster in Lahad Datu and four cases involving the Tugason Cluster in Kota Belud, he said.

“Overall, there are 3,848 patients are still undergoing treatment, 710 in the hospital and 3,118 in the low-risk quarantine centres.

“There are 72 patients in ICU and 27 patients in ventilator support,” he said.

An additional 622 beds have been added into the low-risk centres, bringing the total number of beds to 7,859.

A total of 500 beds are at the Tawau prison, 93 more beds at the Penampang Cultural Center and 29 more beds at the Kudat Rest House.

Masidi said farming sectors are now allowed to operate with 100% workers capacity,  provided it strictly adheres to the health standard operating procedures.

Meanwhile, he said 102,730 food baskets have been distributed while 48,968 vehicles were inspected in 64 roadblocks in 65 locations across the state.

“300 vehicles were instructed to turn back while 35 fines were issued for flouting the health SOPs,” he said.
