KUALA LUMPUR – An 18-year-old girl working in a vape store was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man dressed in an outfit resembling a military uniform in Taman Keramat, Ampang, yesterday.

The incident took place around 1pm when she was manning the shop alone. The suspect entered the store to purchase a vape pod.

Ampang Jaya district police chief Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the suspect returned to the store after his purchase and told the victim that the pod was not working.

“The victim inspected the item before replacing it. The suspect took the opportunity to hold the victim's left wrist and sucked on her finger.”

Farouk said the victim informed the suspect that there was a closed-circuit television camera in the store, and he immediately released her and ran off.

The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code which provides for imprisonment of up to 10 years, or with whipping or a fine, or with any two of such punishments, if found guilty.

Anyone who has any information about this incident can contact investigating officer Inspector Siti Zaleha Abdullah at 03-4289-7222 or go to the nearest police station. – The Vibes, October 7, 2021
