KUALA LUMPUR – Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has voiced his hope that the government will take into serious consideration proposals laid out by all stakeholders, including opposition parties, for the 2021 Budget.

Istana Negara comptroller Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said in a press statement today that the King also lauded the move from both sides of the political divide in coming up with what has been termed a ‘unity budget’.

“His Majesty has voiced his appreciation to the government and political parties for the bi-partisan and spirit of unity that they have displayed.

“His Majesty also voiced his hope that the government will look into the proposals seriously to draft a Budget that is inclusive, comprehensive as well as focussing on the people’s welfare, national economic recovery and effectively curtailing the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Ahmad Fadil.

The King had earlier received Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz for a 70-minute meeting on the Budget and a brief report on the nation’s economic and fiscal position.

He took note that Putrajaya had been working hard to prepare the 2021 Budget since July of this year and had more than 40 engagements with more than 2,000 individuals ranging from corporate figures to political parties. – The Vibes, November 4, 2020
