KOTA KINABALU – Warisan is open to Muda’s use of its logo in the next election if the latter fails to register itself as a political party.
Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said the party will need alliances as it spreads its wings to Peninsular Malaysia, and that Muda will be one of their allies.
“Warisan is registered under the Registrar of Societies as a national political party and we can contest any seat we want; if Syed Saddiq (Syed Abdul Rahman; Muda’s founder) faces difficulty in getting the licence, then he can use Warisan’s logo.
“However, I told Syed Saddiq that if Muda is registered (before the election), then by all means, you go to your party; you don’t have to be tied to Warisan,” Shafie told a press conference after he launched the Warisan Annual Conference in Hakka Hall here, today.
Syed Saddiq was also present at the event as a show of support to Shafie.
“We want to form an alliance with strong and firm principles and dignity, an opposition that is united. I have known Shafie for a long time. He is a national leader and I have been asking for advice from him.
“It is based on Shafie’s spirit, dignity, principles, and loyalty; who stood firm with his party despite being tempted and threatened; I will do whatever it takes to ensure that we (Warisan and Muda) will continue to be united and return the mandate to the people,” he said.
Syed Saddiq said that a court hearing next week will decide if Muda’s application is successful.
On Warisan’s decision to open branches in Peninsular Malaysia, Syed Saddiq said that Shafie is already a national leader and is already well known in Peninsular Malaysia thus making their collaboration easier.
Earlier, Shafie said that Warisan will provide the people with a choice and become the third force in Peninsular Malaysia.
“Based on the voter turnout in the Melaka election, we know that people are not going out to vote because they have no choice. They only had PKR, DAP, Bersatu, Umno, and PAS.
“We will become the choice for them. If people in Sabah can vote for Umno, then why can’t people in (Peninsular Malaysia) vote for Warisan?
“We also have friends, families, and supporters in (Peninsular Malaysia), so I believe that there is no obstacle for us to spread our wings there,” he said, adding that he will elaborate further on the matter on December 17. – The Vibes, December 12, 2021
