KOTA KINABALU – It is official as the current Sabah ruling coalition will be referred to as Gabungan Rakyat Sabah-Barisan Nasional (GRS-BN) today onwards, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor.
Hajiji, who is GRS pro-tem chairman, said he has no issue with the new name suggested by Sabah Deputy Chief Minister and state Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.
He added that this was agreed on before the 2020 state election, and that the GRS pact will include BN, even though it is a coalition by itself and cannot officially be in GRS.
“In the state government, the alliance is between GRS and BN. So from today onwards, we will call it the GRS-BN state government,” he said at a press conference after a working visit to Tamparuli, Tuaran today.
Last Friday, Bung Moktar suggested that the state government should be called GRS-BN, instead of GRS, as it is unfair to BN, which is part of the ruling coalition.
“We are backing the GRS leadership in administering the state.”
GRS was officially registered as a political coalition that comprises Bersatu, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku, Sabah Progressive Party, and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) on March 11.
Before its registration, GRS consisted of Perikatan Nasional, BN and PBS.
The BN component parties are Umno, MCA, MIC and United Sabah People’s Party. – The Vibes, March 27, 2022
