KUALA LUMPUR – Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has expressed excitement over tomorrow’s much-anticipated debate featuring opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Mohamad, in a press conference today, said he eagerly anticipates what the political foes have to say when they take the stage in what is described as one of the country’s highest-profile debates in history.

“I can’t wait to hear what they have to say,” he said at a press conference after launching an Umno forum in Menara Dato Onn here today.

When asked if Mohamad has any advice for both the political heavyweights, the Rantau assemblyman lightly said: “Lantak la dia orang! (it’s up to them)”

“Who am I to offer them my advice? Whatever they want to say, let them say. They have their own ideas and points.”

The debate between Anwar and Najib will be taking place tomorrow at 9pm at the Malaysian Tourism Centre complex here.

Meanwhile, Mohamad sidestepped questions posed on the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation into allegations of abuse of power in Negri Sembilan relating to logging and land lease projects between 2008 and 2013.

“Let MACC do their investigation,” he said.

Previously, a well-placed source told The Vibes that MACC’s investigation will look into a former menteri besar and several individuals but has “yet to establish any valuation because the case leans more towards abuse of power”.
