KUALA LUMPUR – The East Coast Rail Link’s (ECRL) Temerloh-Port Klang route remains in the study stage while the Selangor government has requested for it to include the state, Deputy Transport Minister Hasbi Habibollah told the Dewan Rakyat today.
In a supplementary question, June Leow (PH-Hulu Selangor) asked the deputy minister to consider including Selangor and her constituency in ECRL’s Section C route.
Hasbi said the government is studying the Temerloh-Port Klang route, and the Selangor government has made a similar request for the state to be included.
He said early tunnelling works in a few sections, such as Gambang and Sri Jaya, are under way.
He added that as of October 31, 19.09% of the ECRL’s total project has been completed, putting it slightly ahead of schedule.
“For Section A, which is Kota Baru to Dungun, the rail scheme was approved on May 14 this year. The stations approved and being constructed are Kota Baru, Pasir Puteh, Jerteh, Bandar Permaisuri, Kuala Terengganu and Dungun.
“For Section B, from Dungun to Temerloh, physical completion of the work is at 5.39% when compared to 4.07% in the estimated timeline,” said Hasbi in his reply to Leow. – The Vibes, November 18, 2020
