KOTA KINABALU – Sabah Star will be contesting in the general election using the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) logo, not Perikatan Nasional (PN) – the alliance that the Sabah party is a member of.
Its president Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan said this is because GRS is the known alliance in the state.
Jeffrey is Sabah deputy chief minister and deputy chairman for PN and GRS.
“Sabah Star will be using the GRS logo and Barisan Nasional will probably be using the BN logo,” he said.
“We have not talked about seat distributions yet.”
He was met after closing the Indigenous Peoples’ Day forum at the Sabah Star headquarters in Bukit Padang.
GRS comprises Bersatu, Sabah Star, PBS, Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) and Usno.
But Bersatu, Sabah Star and SAPP are also in the PN alliance.
The alliance started out as a loose coalition to rival the Warisan, Pakatan Harapan and Upko in the Sabah election in September 2020, with BN being part of the alliance, while PBS being a friendly party.
The GRS was officially registered on March 11 and this time, excluding BN, while PBS officially became a member of the coalition. – The Vibes, August 22, 2022
