KOTA KINABALU – Only elected representatives from the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition can bring about development and progress, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, today.
Speaking during the third launching of the GRS Roadshow in Lahad Datu, Hajiji – who is also GRS chairman – said the public and electorate in Lahad Datu can only change their luck by making the right decision during the election.
“The reality is only the elected representatives from the government could bring development and progress,” said Hajiji, while calling component GRS leaders to work hard and translate their support to the alliance in ensuring all their candidates will win in the looming 15th general election.
He also said the leaders also need to ensure they could win in all the state constituencies in Lahad Datu in the next Sabah elections.
The state seats under the constituency are Tungku, Segama, Silam and Kunak.
While Segama, Silam, Tungku and Kunak are held by Warisan, the Lahad Datu parliamentary seat was formerly a Warisan seat, as its MP, Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi had recently joined Parti Bangsa Malaysia, which is supportive of the federal government.
GRS will accept any local parties
Meanwhile, Hajiji said GRS will accept any local parties into its fold.
“If we truly love Sabah, this is the time for us to be united under GRS. I want to hear from Umno and Barisan Nasional that they want to work together for Sabah,” he said.
Over 4,000 people attended the GRS roadshow programme held in Lahad Datu, over 400km east of the state capital Kota Kinabalu.
Also present were SAPP president Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee, Usno president Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, PBS deputy president Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam and Sabah Star deputy president Datuk Robert Tawik.
Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah president Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah, Social Democratic Harmony Party deputy president Datuk Juil Nuatim and leaders from Parti Cinta Sabah and LDP were also in attendance. – The Vibes, September 5, 2022
