KUALA LUMPUR – Barisan Nasional (BN) is definitely ready to face the 15th general election (GE15) and is gunning to emerge victorious, said BN Youth chief Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

Delivering an energetic speech to more than 2,000 BN Youth members at its machinery launch today, he urged for the polls to be called soon to maximise the “high spirits” evident among the massive crowd.

“We are ready, even if the prime minister (Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob) declares that Parliament is dissolved tomorrow,” he said, to which he was met by large cheers from the audience, many of whom were waving BN flags and dressed in party attire.

He added that with motivation among members now at a “maximum level”, he is proud with the turnout for today’s event, which saw members from all over the nation congregating at the Titiwangsa Stadium here.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri, who is also Umno vice-president, urged party machinery to tackle the demographic of fresh youth voters numbering over 7.8 million who are influenced by social media content.

“Our battle nowadays is one that is fought online. We can see that our enemies are often attacking us (BN and the government) on social media,” he said.

“If we fail to respond to the attacks – which is what happened during the previous election – then there will be dire consequences for the party.”

As such, he said that party leaders, especially from youth divisions, must ensure that work is done to face online challenges. – The Vibes, September 17, 2022
